Comfort Touch in Palliative Hospice Care

Care for End-of-Life

Comfort Touch is so important in helping to create a graceful passage…to realize the importance that ‘dying matters’ for everyone involved.

There can be much pain and suffering in the dying process and massage offers some relief. The power of touch can help with the emotional and often physical pain of saying goodbye to family and friends, the loss of life and physical discomfort of being bedridden.

Families often have no way to connect with their loved ones, and massage can offer that connection. It only takes a little time to show families and loved ones how to do simple foot and/or hand massage. It provides comfort to everyone. I love showing family and caregivers how to provide this comfort so they don’t have to rely on my services.

Rates for home visits are $110.00 – $140.00

We will be announcing the next Comfort Touch online workshop soon.

Just completed the in-person Workshop in Edmonton!

Testimonies from students. “Your Comfort Touch palliative care class came at a perfect time…I’m helping my dear friend with MAID requests, paperwork etc., so she may leave her earthly body as soon as possible. I so appreciate the knowledge I always receive from you!” – Kathy S.

There has been a lot of research on how effective using comfort touch (massage) for those in Palliative Hospice. Here is one study by Suncoast Study

Conducted at The Hospice Institute of the Florida Suncoast. Patients who received massage reported 52% reduction in pain scores, 53% reduction in anxiety, and 52% increase in peacefulness. Polubinski, Journal of Pain and Symptom Management, July 2005. Click here for full research paper.
